Crystal Palace fans have been left stunned this afternoon (Monday) after Wilfried Zaha was named on the bench for Ivory Coast in their African Cup of Nations clash against South Africa.
The 26-year-old was named among the substitutes by Elephants boss Ibrahima Kamara, with former Leeds and Bournemouth winger Max Gradel lining up as part of a front four that also includes Aston Villa's Jonathan Kodjia, Fulham's Jean-Michel Seri and Nicolas Pepe, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
But it is the absence of Zaha from the starting line-up that has got Palace fans talking on social media this afternoon, with the Eagles' star man having to wait for his first involvement at the African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.
Indeed, these fans cannot believe that Kamara has not included him in the starting XI for the Group D clash.
Zaha has played nine times for the Elephants since switching international football allegiance from England in November 2016, with the Palace man netting two goals for Ivory Coast.
The Palace star has featured in the African Cup of Nations before, starting each game in 2017 as Ivory Coast were eliminated at the group stage, despite being the reigning champions.
