Zack Snyder's Controversial Comments On Batman's No-Kill Rule

Director Zack Snyder recently made controversial comments regarding Batman's character, stating that he has no issue with The Dark Knight killing people. During an appearance on a podcast, Snyder explained that he likes to take a deconstructivist approach to superheroes and wants to challenge traditional notions of these iconic characters.

Snyder believes that adhering strictly to Batman's 'no killing' rule could make the character irrelevant and wants to explore what would happen if Batman were put in situations where he had to make difficult choices.

While Snyder drew inspiration from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, where Batman is forced to shoot a criminal holding a child hostage, it's worth noting that in the comic, Batman does not actually kill the criminal. The story emphasizes Batman's moral code and his internal struggle with the idea of crossing that line.

Despite Snyder's passion for comic books and filmmaking, his interpretation of Batman and Superman in the SnyderVerse faced criticism from many fans of the characters. Snyder has since moved on from the DC universe and is working on his own original project, Rebel Moon, which is set to be released on Netflix in 2024.
