Zack Snyder recently appeared on a popular podcast and discussed his transition to Netflix, highlighting the vast reach and impact of the streaming platform. Snyder, known for his work with Warner Bros., made the move to Netflix with the release of his film 'Army of the Dead' in 2021. His latest Netflix project, 'Rebel Moon,' debuted in December, marking the beginning of a new space saga for the streaming service. A sequel to 'Rebel Moon' is set to premiere this spring.

During the podcast conversation, Snyder emphasized the significant viewership potential of Netflix compared to traditional theatrical releases. He pointed out that despite mixed reviews from critics, 'Rebel Moon' likely reached more viewers than the blockbuster film 'Barbie,' which grossed $1.4 billion worldwide. Snyder highlighted the accessibility of Netflix, where viewers can easily stream content on various devices, leading to a broader audience reach.

Snyder also praised Netflix's ability to elevate niche content, citing the success of the documentary series 'Formula 1: Drive to Survive' in popularizing the sport of Formula 1 in America. He commended Netflix for providing a platform for original and unconventional projects like 'Rebel Moon,' emphasizing the lower barriers to entry for such content.

While 'Rebel Moon' may have attracted a large audience on Netflix, Snyder acknowledged the contrasting critical reception compared to 'Barbie,' which received multiple Oscar nominations. Despite the criticism, Snyder expressed his admiration for 'Barbie' and even appreciated a humorous reference to his 'Justice League' cut in the film's script.

Snyder's leading star from 'Rebel Moon' shared her disappointment over the negative reviews but expressed pride in being part of the project. Despite the challenges, Snyder remains enthusiastic about his work and continues to engage with diverse content across different platforms.
