Zach Wilson could be playing for his job Sunday night

The fanbase has long grown frustrated with quarterback Zach Wilson, pretty much to the point of no return. But for a while, it had seemed like the coaching staff was hanging on as long as they could, hoping out as much hope as possible he could turn things around. That time may finally be coming to an end.

In a recent article from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Jets may finally be reaching the end of the rope with Wilson and he may be playing for his job Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here’s a snippet of what Russini wrote about the situation:

The Jets signed veteran QB Trevor Siemian to their practice squad this past week, but he won’t be active for Sunday night’s home game against the Chiefs. However, unless Wilson clicks with the offense tonight and throws for 300 yards, it’s apparent his time as the starter could be closing out. Multiple Jets sources shared their general trepidation this past week, with one texting, “Something needs to change, or it’s going to cost jobs.”

The Jets just signed Siemian, so this week was too soon to call him up — the Jets only elevated OL Chris Glaser from the practice squad this week. But with another week of practice, Siemian could well be in position to take over for Week 5 against the Broncos if the Jets decide to make the change.

It’s also possible the Jets use Siemian as a stop-gap between now and the Week 7 bye and then go out and acquire a veteran quarterback for the rest of the season if they feel that quarterback can right the ship and get the Jets back into playoff contention.

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. For Zach Wilson, it’s do-or-die time. We could (finally) be seeing the end of the road for Wilson as the starting quarterback of the New York Jets. The Jets may finally be starting to turn the page.
