Zach Kerr believes Vic Fangio will take Broncos to the next level

After signing a two-year contract with the Broncos last week, defensive lineman Zach Kerr said on a conference call with reporters that his teammates and new coach Vic Fangio played a big role in his decision to re-sign with the team during free agency.

“Me, Derek [Wolfe] and Von [Miller], we all actually work out together right now in our offseason,” Kerr said. “That played a big part in it. I was talking to Shelby [Harris] last night actually before [I made my decision] I was like, ‘You know what, I’m going to make the decision.’

“I was just weighing my options. Let Shelby tell it, he’s the reason why I’m staying. It definitely was a big factor. We’re building something really good here. I feel like Vic [Fangio] is the guy to kind of take us over that hump, take us over the hill. I just want to be a part of it.”

Kerr, 28, signed a two-year deal with the team in 2017 and was a rotational defensive lineman over the last two years. He recorded 52 tackles and two sacks in 27 appearances, earning one start.

Kerr will likely remain a rotational defender in 2019.
