Zach Brown was Redskins’ highest-graded defender at Pro Football Focus

This one wasn’t easy to see coming.

Embattled Washington Redskins linebacker Zach Brown ended up leading the team in overall grade among defenders at Pro Football Focus.

The writeup had this to say about the highest-graded defender: “Linebacker Zach Brown had a career year in the heart of the defense, earning an overall PFF grade of 89.2 – third among all linebackers. Brown didn’t allow a touchdown in coverage all season and made 45 defensive stops.”

Not that Brown isn’t a good player, but this is surprising in large part because of the other superb defenders on the unit, such as Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen and others.

There is also the background noise here after Brown’s weird social-media saga where he apparently sounded off against the team, making it seem like he won’t be back next season.

Brown or not, the Redskins linebackers should be in a solid state next season with Rob Ryan in charge of the interior guys.
