Zach Brown on not taking free agents visits because Philly is where he wanted to be

Zach Brown’s signing with the Eagles was one of the biggest moves in free agency, with the rugged linebacker giving the Birds a premier playmaker in the middle. For Brown, it appears it was Philly or nothing, with the Eagles new veteran linebacker telling reporters he told his agent to cancel free agent visits once he found out the Birds were involved.

Brown was looking to win now, and with the Birds just two years removed from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, The 29-year-old linebacker decided to choose a sure thing. Brown is a tackling machine and racked up 127 tackles in 2017 with the Redskins.

Brown played college football at the University of North Carolina and was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Over the last two seasons, Brown started 25 games for the Redskins, totaling 223 tackles and is pretty productive in passing situations as well.

The 29-year-old Brown was ranked No. 29 on NFL.com’s top free agent’s list and was the NFL’s third-ranked middle linebacker, per Pro Football Focus.
