Zac Taylor taps Joey Boese to change Bengals culture

The goal in Cincinnati is a new culture for the Bengals.

To start chipping away at this task, new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor turned to old friend Joey Boese.

And Boese sounds more than up to the task, telling Bengals.com “I’m here to implement the culture Zac wants and that’s important because the first exposure is in the weight room.”

He expanded on those thoughts:

“There will be a different approach. It’s a new time and a new culture we’re going to set. Not only in the weight room but for the whole organization. Holding everyone to the same high standard. That will start in the weight room, the training sessions, OTAs, training camp and on into the season.”

He’s not wrong and the man he replaced, Chip Morton, was a big part of the excitement and culture change when Marvin Lewis first arrived in Cincinnati.

Interestingly, the writeup also notes the revamped staff in the weight room might use scientific and analytical data to help.

If Boese and Taylor can follow the Rams’ lead in these areas, it could provide the boost the new head coach seeks.
