Zac Taylor speaks on the Alex Redmond suspension

It was only a matter of time before Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor had to address the Alex Redmond suspension.

Speaking at OTAs, Taylor kept his statement on the topic of losing last year’s starting guard for four games simple, per Jay Morrison of The Athletic:

“It is what it is. Whatever happens happens, and you own up to it and you just move on. That’s the way world works. And we’ll keep supporting him and move on.”

Redmond was hit with a four-game ban for a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. The Bengals turned around and added some depth to the line the day after it was announced.

Taylor handled this situation well given the circumstances. But elsewhere, the Bengals have been making moves in an effort to upgrade Redmond’s spot, among others. At right guard, the front office added John Miller in free agency and he looks like the starter moving forward, with rookie Michael Jordan also possibly in the mix.

Redmond can still practice and work out with the team but won’t be eligible for game duty until Week 5.
