Zac Taylor shoots down idea of Bengals adding QB Josh Rosen

The Cincinnati Bengals announced their initial 53-man roster Saturday after a bevy of cuts.

Initial though, as the team could still make a handful of moves over the next 24 hours or so as players cut around the league pass through the waiver system.

And one of those players is former top-10 pick Josh Rosen, recently cut by the Miami Dolphins.

With the Bengals sitting first in waiver priority order, it made some sense to suggest the Bengals might have an interest in a prospect with that much upside. The team cutting Brandon Allen and Jake Dolegala only made it make more sense.

But Bengals head coach Zac Taylor himself shot down the idea, per ESPN’s Ben Baby:

The Bengals do figure to make a claim, and at this point it’s likely to be a cornerback. Trae Waynes figures to head to injured reserve in subsequent moves tomorrow while the team also assembles a 16-player practice squad.

Just don’t expect the name “Rosen” to pop up in any of the team’s transactions.
