Zac Taylor says no updated timetable on A.J. Green’s return to practice

Progress in his return to the field is still slow for Cincinnati Bengals wideout A.J. Green.

A week ago, Green hit a media tour of sorts after finally shedding his boot and getting some work in on a zero-gravity treadmill. Green told reporters he’s not worried about the contract situation and even thinks Zac Taylor’s offense could extend his career.

But Wednesday, Taylor himself noted that there isn’t any sort of updated timetable or expectation when it comes to Green actually getting on the field and partaking in practice.

Keeping it vague, Taylor merely mentioned the early part of the schedule, as noted by Laurel Pfahler:

Week 4 for Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers was always a sweet spot for a return, in a poetic sense. But if Green isn’t practicing this week ahead of Week 3 in Buffalo, one week of practice might not be enough.

The Bengals have a Week 9 bye after a trip to London, so there might always be a scenario here where everyone takes it slow and aims for Week 10 against Baltimore.

At least for now, there isn’t an update on his return to practice.
