Zac Taylor personally called John Ross after trade rumor surfaced

John Ross is one of the most interesting names at Cincinnati Bengals voluntary minicamp ahead of the 2019 NFL draft.

Ross came up in a since-denied trade rumor back in February. Head coach Zac Taylor shot it down and Ross himself just told reporters the new coach went out of his way to give him a call when it happened.

“He told me not to worry about it,” Ross said, according to Bengals.com. “Him doing that, showed me a lot … Yeah, I think they do (have some plans for him). He told me, ‘Don’t worry,’ so I went about my day and went to the dentist.”

It is a nice note about the new head coach more than anything. Taylor has been adamant he wants to see what Ross can do in his offense and that the former first-round pick isn’t on the block.

The Bengals could use some production from Ross, who has had a rocky start to his career. A third option at wideout would benefit Andy Dalton, plus A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd are heading into contract years.

Starting today, Ross got a chance to make an impression on Taylor.
