Zac Taylor expects his players to know his unique definition of a Bengal

New Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has an interesting way of keeping his players on their toes and at the same time making sure they are all on the same page.

He wants them to know his definition of what a Bengal is, as revealed by tight end C.J. Uzomah. From Laurel Pfahler of the Dayton Daily News:

“He will come in and randomly say, ‘Alright, what’s a Bengal,’ and you’ve got to know it’s a ‘physical, hungry, accountable teammate, who’s willing to give his all for the team,’” Uzomah said. “If you don’t know that, he will just look at you a little bit and you can go through your notes and look for it. It’s holding us all to a higher standard and making us accountable for everything.”

Call it a unique approach to the situation. The definition certainly falls right in line with Taylor’s first slogan: “It’s About Us.”

It’s certainly catchier than the “Do Your Job” and others of the past in Cincinnati, at least. And with the way players keep talking about how much fun they’re having, it seems like Taylor’s approach is connecting.
