Zac Taylor confirms Rodney Anderson tore ACL in preseason finale

The Cincinnati Bengals braced for the worst after Thursday’s preseason game and Friday confirmed it: Rookie back Rodney Anderson suffered a torn ACL against the Indianapolis Colts.

Anderson limped off the field early against the Colts and was ruled out with a knee injury, seemingly on the same knee he had just rehabbed back to playing strength.

Friday, head coach Zac Taylor confirmed the worst-case scenario, according to Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer: “Zac Taylor confirmed that Rodney Anderson suffered a torn right ACL.”

To call it a shame would be an understatement for Anderson, who worked hard to get back earlier than expected after a knee injury ended his final year in college. He was the superstar of the team’s third preseason game before the injury this week.

Anderson will shift to injured reserve as part of the extensive roster moves over the weekend, then start his comeback trail again. In the meantime, the Bengals will hope rookie Trayveon Williams is ready to go for Week 1.
