Zac Taylor comments on Cordy Glenn’s absence

Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Cordy Glenn reported a concussion after the preseason game against Washington and hasn’t been seen since.

Glenn remains in concussion protocol ahead of Week 3 and while he was back at practice going through some stretches Thursday, he won’t be playing this week, if not in the coming weeks.

ESPN’s Ben Baby caught the thoughts of head coach Zac Taylor on the situation:

“It’s a sensitive issue with any concussion, to be honest with you. It’s really on if the player feels symptoms, then it’s important to protect the player. That’s really all I can even say about it.”

Every concussion is different and every person reacts to them differently. At its most basic, Glenn is still in the protocol because things are still triggering symptoms.

While some fans might focus on his ability to get on the field and help a struggling offense (which isn’t realistic anyway — he’s a 345-pound lineman who hasn’t been able to do anything physical for a long time now), this has quickly turned into a discussion about Glenn’s long-term health.

Glenn might make it back to the Bengals this year, yes. But it’s a touchy situation with little in the way of anything being guaranteed, which Taylor touched on when asked about it again.
