Zac Taylor: A.J. Green to miss ‘hopefully just a couple’ games

The outlook surrounding Cincinnati Bengals wideout A.J. Green continues to get worse.

Tuesday, a report broke revealing Green had surgery, though it was classified as “minor” and the overall timetable didn’t change much from the initially expected recovery outlook.

Then Bengals coach Zac Taylor talked with the media after weather delayed Tuesday’s practice and noted Green will miss “hopefully just a couple” games, according to The Athletic’s Jay Morrison.

Billed initially as an injury that put Green’s Week 1 status in doubt, the second opinion and decision to go the surgery route has combined to throw the star wideout’s early chunk of regular season into doubt.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed too:

The continually deteriorating situation is problematic on several levels, with Green in a contract year and trying to learn a new system. The Bengals have a tough opening slate too — they start on the road in Seattle and three of their first four are away games, including Week 4 in Pittsburgh.
