Zac Efron has reassured fans he is doing well after suffering a "medical emergency" while filming in Papua New Guinea.
The actor, 32, was filming a new survival show in the country when he reportedly became ill and required a “life or death” flight to Brisbane, Australia.
Initial reports claimed he stayed in the hospital for “several days" before being given the all-clear to return to the US.
Commenting on the matter for the first time, Efron has now stated that while he was ill, he has "bounced back quickly."
Writing on Instagram, he said: "Very thankful to everyone who has reached out.
"I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G.
"I'm home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!"
Friends and fellow stars posted their relief that Efron was back in good health, with director Max Joseph writing: "Good! Was worried there."
Chef Gordon Ramsay showed his support for the star by posting a hands up emoji.
Efron's survival programme - titled Killing Zac Efron - will air on the streaming service Quibi and see the star live off the grid for 21 days, with nothing but basic gear and a guide partner.
When the show was announced in November, Efron said in a statement: “I tend to thrive under extreme circumstances and seek out opportunities that challenge me on every level.
“I am excited to explore any uncharted territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits.”
Earlier in December, a local tour guide in Papua New Guinea posted pictures of himself and Efron exploring the country on Facebook.
