Zac Efron reunites with High School Musical cast for singalong in lockdown

Zac Efron joined the cast of High School Musical for their first broadcast performance in 12 years.

In a one-off Disney special, Zac caught up with Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel via video call.

Speaking from his home during the ABC's The Disney Family Singalong on April 16, Zac - who had played Troy Bolton - wished fans well and then went on to introduce the original cast before they sang.

"Hi everyone and I hope that you are safe and healthy you're doing as well as possible during these unprecedented times."

"It is my greatest pleasure to introduce a musical performance by some of my oldest friends and some new ones," he continued.

"I hope you enjoy and remember that we're all in this together."

The High School Musical cast then performed a rendition of hit song 'We're all in this together' during the broadcast.

Zac, however, did not actually take part in the singing.

The hour-long special welcomed a host of famous faces from the Disney family via video call.

Viewers were left stunned after Beyonce made an unannounced appearance and sang When You Wish Upon a Star.

Christina Aguilera also performed Lion King's Can You Feel The Love Tonight via video from her home.

Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, there were also performances from Ariana Grande, Dove Cameron, Darren Criss, Josh Groban and Elle Fanning.

The exciting show came to a close with a duet from Demi Lovato and Michael Buble, who sang A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes from Cindarella.

The ABC special was geared at raising awareness for the NGO Feeding America that is currently feeding citizens during the coronavirus pandemic.
