Hollywood star Zac Efron has required “emergency” care after suffering from a “form of typhoid or similar bacterial infection” while filming in Papua New Guinea, according to reports.
The 32-year-old was filming his new adventure show, Killing Zac Efron, in the Pacific region when he reportedly became ill and required a “life or death” flight to Brisbane, Australia.
A doctor at the private St Andrews War Memorial Hospital told Australian publication The Sunday Telegraph that while they could not discuss patient information, they had “retrieved a US citizen in his 30s from PNG to Brisbane for medical attention in Australia.”
He is thought to have stayed in the hospital for “several days" before being given the all-clear to return to the US.

Killing Zac Efron was commissioned in November and will see the star “falling off the grid” for 21 days.
Earlier in December, a local tour guide in Papua New Guinea posted pictures of himself and Efron exploring the country on Facebook.
When the programme was announced, the Baywatch actor said: "I tend to thrive under extreme circumstances and seek out opportunities that challenge me on every level.
"I am excited to explore any uncharted territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits."
