Yvette Fielding's 12-word tribute to Derek Acorah years after branding him fake

Yvette Fielding has issued a brief statement following the death of , four years after their bitter fallout.

The presenter worked alongside Liverpool's Derek between 2002 and 2006 before he was fired from the show - a move which resulted in a row between the two.

At the time Yvette branded the spiritual medium fake.

However, following the announcement that 69-year-old Derek Acorah had died on Friday, Yvette released a statement through her agent.

It said: "Our condolences are with Derek’s family at this time. Yvette and Karl."

Derek was fired from Most Haunted after being duped into channeling a fake personality called Kreed Kafer - an anagram for “Derek Faker” - during an episode.

At the time, Yvette explained why Derek was sacked from the hit show. She said: “We tell people everything is real, then it turns out he was a fake, so he had to go.”

Friends and colleagues of the TV psychic, whose real name is Derek Johnson, took to social media to expressing their grief over his sudden death from a short illness.

Tessa Dunlop said: "I'm gutted to hear that Derek Acorah has died. The most fun I ever had making TV was in Egypt with Derek.

"RIP you wonderful generous man. All thoughts with your lovely family."

Lee Roberts tweeted: "Heartbroken to hear the news this morning that my dear friend Derek Acorah has passed away.

"Was one of the nicest guys in the paranormal industry, always working and opening doors for those that followed in his footsteps.

"I'll miss you Derek, RIP."
