Yves Bissouma 'transfer request' could hand Liverpool boost

Liverpool appear to have been handed a potential boost in their reported pursuit of Yves Bissouma.

The Reds have been extensively linked with the Brighton midfielder in recent months, with various reports claiming they have an interest in the Mali international.

It has been suggested that Bissouma could be lined up as a possible replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who looks increasingly likely to depart on a free transfer this summer.

Bissouma signed for Brighton in the summer of 2018 in a deal which could be worth up to £15m including add-ons.

A fresh development around Bissouma has given Liverpool a boost, if the reports that they are interested in his services are to be believed.

According to The Times, Bissouma has requested a move away from Brighton this summer amid interest from the likes of Liverpool.

Manchester City and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in signing the 24-year-old.

The report goes on to state that Jurgen Klopp has personally got involved in the potential deal to sign Bissouma.

It has been claimed that the Reds boss has been researching Bissouma’s character and off-field behaviour, in order to determine whether he would be a good fit for the Anfield club.

However, it has also been said that Bissouma’s preference would be to join a Champions League side, which would be a major blow to Liverpool should they fail to finish in the top four this season.

Late last month, Bissouma was asked about his future at Amex Stadium, where he insisted that his sole focus is on helping Brighton retain their Premier League status.

“I don’t have much to say about that because I’m at Brighton for the moment,” Bissouma told The Argus .

“I consider myself a Brighton player, so the most important thing right now, as I said, is to stay up.

“We’ll try and stay up, and God willing, we’ll see how things go next season.”
