Yungblud says people 'need to see' documentary about making of his new album

Londoner’s Diary

The red carpet was rolled out for the premiere of Yungblud: Are You Ready, Boy?, a documentary about the making of the musician’s latest album. “In a world where everything is so TikTokable and Instagrammable, this is a film about imagination,” said Yungblud at the premiere, adding modestly: “People need to see what it takes to make an album of this ambition.” Do they, now? The musician brought his mother along as his date to the premiere, which was held at Vue Leicester Square.

Then it was onto The Londoner hotel for an after-party, where teenage rock duo The Molotovs were living up to their name and ordering rounds of cocktails, at one point thrusting a paloma into the hands of Yungblud himself.

Tequila Tuesdays

Tuesday afternoon is the new Friday evening, according to Casamigos. Up on the rooftop bar of the Broadwick hotel, the tequila brand kicked off its inaugural Casa Soho festival with a margarita-fuelled lunch. Guests included singer Ella Eyre, DJ Papu Raf, and actor Emma Appleton.

Singer Poppy Ajudha was getting travel tips (for Marseille, obvs), while presenter Zeze Millz jammed out to a set from Biig Piig. Casamigos has also taken over Soho’s Gen Z-loved pub The Blue Posts and rechristened it The Teal Posts, swapping out pints for frozen margaritas.

From Crystal Palace to Chelsea

The sun was out at the Crystal Palace Bowl over the weekend for Flackstock, a day festival set up in memory of Love Island presenter Caroline Flack. While most attendees including actor Chris O’Dowd braved the heat in shorts, Leigh Francis (aka Keith Lemon) went along in a neck brace and jeans as his alter ego Avid Merrion, a demented celebrity stalker. Interesting choice. Drag queen Ginger Johnson led a karaoke session, while Spice Girl Mel C closed the festival with a DJ set. Flackstock was set up by close friends of Flack in 2022, and raises money for mental health charities.

Meanwhile, the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea were transformed into a showjumping arena for watchmaker Longines’ Global Champions Tour. Brooklyn Beckham’s model ex Hana Cross was there, as well as ballet dancer Eric Underwood and model James Yates.
