Yuki Kobayashi Celtic move motivation revealed as behind the scenes footage shows emotional Vissel Kobe exit

Yuki Kobayashi is a Celtic player, after penning a five-year deal with the Scottish champions this month, but had the tough task of saying farewell to his boyhood club first.

The Japanese defender will link up with Ange Postecoglou's men following the World Cup break, with Kobayashi available to play for the league leaders come the new year. And Celtic look to be getting their transfer business done swifty, with the defender set to join Canadian star Alistair Johnston as a new Parkhead recruit.

Kobayashi leaves behind his boyhood club in Vissel Kobe - the team Celtic signed now fan favourite Kyogo Furuhashi from last summer - but did not go without a hero's send-off. The J-League side produced a long-form documentary on the 22-year-old, showing his rise from academy star to national team appearances and the youngster is visibly emotion throughout.

When asked about his motivation for joining the Hoops, he can be heard telling the dressing room: "I've decided to transfer after a discussion this year. It has been one of my goals for a long time so I'm going to take on the challenge."

In the sit-down interview, he states: "I want to be someone that can set high goals, join the team and play. I want to become a role model for the young players here [Kobe]. I really want to work hard towards that."
