Yuki Kobayashi arrives ahead of Celtic deal as Japanese star gets the welcome to Glasgow treatment

Japanese star Yuki Kobayashi has arrived in Scotland ahead of completing his move to Celtic.

And he has already met excited fans who are looking forward to watching him in action once his transfer is fully completed.

The 22-year-old centre back, who has been signed from Vissel Kobe, touched down into Glasgow earlier and while he won't be able to fully register and play for the Hoops until January, Kobayashi will be able to get to know his new team mates and learn the Ange Postecoglou way.

Of course, he knows his fellow countrymen most notably Kyogo Furuhashi who was a team-mate at Kobe and he has seen how the striker has blossomed into a major star at Celtic. Kobayashi has the same dream previously saying it was always his intention to play for a big European team and in the Champions League.

It's a fifth raid by Ange Postecoglou into the J-League having brought in Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi last January following the £5million-plus deal for Furuhashi.

Kobayashi is a natural left-sided centre back which is an added bonus and is seen as the man to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers although Carl Starfelt will have something to say about that and both Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh can play there too.

It comes as the club has announced that former chief executive Peter Lawwell is returning as chairman.
