YSRCP candidate Dasari Sudha files nomination papers for Badvel bypoll

TIRUPATI: YSR Congress Party candidate Dasari Sudha filed nomination papers for the Badvel assembly bypoll scheduled to be held on October 30.

Sudha handed over her nomination papers to the returning officer Ketan Garg.

The byelection to the Badvel assembly seat in chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy's home district Kadapa was necessitated following the death of Sudha's husband and sitting YSRC MLA Dr G Venkata Subbaiah who died after prolonged illness in March this year.

A comparison into the YSRC candidate's financials by looking into her affidavits filed during the 2019 general elections with the affidavits filed by her during the bypoll now, brings to light that her liquid assets have grown from Rs 44.67 lakh to Rs 1.11 crore in the last two years. The value of her fixed assets have marginally increased from Rs 35 lakh to Rs 48 lakh.

The YSRC candidate has mentioned in her affidavit that she has 350gm of gold, agricultural lands at Gopavaram and Chintakommadinne mandals and non-agricultural lands in Kadapa town.

Meanwhile with chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy having already served a diktat to senior party functionaries to ensure a resounding win in the Badvel assembly bypoll by securing a majority not less than 45,000 votes, senior party functionaries under the leadership of state mines and geology minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy have immersed themselves in hectic campaigning already.

On the other hand, with the TDP and the Jana Sena having already declared that they will not contest the bypoll owing to the party's convention of not contesting polls which are necessitated following the death of a sitting MLA especially when the kin of the deceased MLA is fielded in the poll fray, the ruling party seems to already have gained an upper hand.

Though BJP and Congress parties have announced that they will contest the Badvel bypoll and take heads on with the YSR Congress Party, both the national parties are yet to officially announce their respective candidates to be fielded in the poll fray.
