VIJAYAWADA: A day after the AP high court judgement on Amaravati city development, the YSRC and the state government seem to have decided to speak about the deadline to complete the development works.
Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is learned to have told his party colleagues and the officials to reach out to the people explaining the deadline point. It was on this account that minister for municipal administration Botcha Satyanarayana raised questions on the time frame on Wednesday.
As the state budget session of the Assembly is scheduled from March 7, sources said the chief minister is likely to make a statement on Amaravati plans and the court directions, particularly on the time frame.
Sources said Jagan has reportedly made up his mind to use both the floor of the Assembly as well as the peoples’ court in defence of decentralisation. Jagan is said to be planning for district tours from June or July.
The high court had directed the government and the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to develop the layout and hand over the plots to the farmers in three months.
Officials and ruling party leaders are questioning if layout development with infrastructure is possible in a short time. Particularly if the government has to do this work, there is a long procedure to be followed, sources said.
The court also directed the government and the CRDA to complete the development of the capital city in the next six months.
