Youtubers equipped with drones and cameras are arrested for trespassing in Area 51

Youtubers, Govert Charles Wilhelmus Jacob Sweep, 21, and Ties Granzier, 20, were arrested for trespassing on the grounds of Area 51 just days before thousands of people were planning on breaking into the secretive military base.

The pair from the Netherlands were found with a drone and cameras and were arrested three miles into the Nevada site on Wednesday.

Both have popular Youtube channels: ’Govert Sweep’ has more than 700,000 subscribers and ‘Ties’ has over 300,000.

They were carrying a drone and cameras in the boot of their car.

Both were detained at Nye County Detention Centre and were held overnight.

Area 51 is a classified United States Air Force facility in the Nevada desert.

The site has become a popular topic for conspiracy theorists due to its intense security parameter.

In an interview with Dutch news outlet KTNV, Sweep said: “I’m just here for trespassing and I think it’s not normal for such a small thing’.

Authorities had been aware that Facebook users were planning to storm the site to try and catch a glimpse of evidence that aliens are kept and tested at the site.

Rumours of a mass invasion at the base stemmed from a Facebook event, ‘Storm Area 51’, that saw over 2 million people say they were going to raise the military zone.

Sweep said: “We didn’t have any intention to storm it because we leave one day before the actual storming dates, and we just wanted to go there”

When asked Sweep told KNTV: “Yesterday they said we going to go out of jail this morning but we are still here. We don’t know anything. We are not getting any clear information about what is next.

“We are going to chill for a bit”
