KSI has apologised for his past use of transphobic slurs.
On Tuesday (9 March), the YouTuber and rapper, real name Olajide Olatunji, responded to criticism on Twitter, initially tweeting: “Hold up, people actually think I’m transphobic?”
A fan then replied, pointing out a video in which he misgendered a trans woman and citing his past use of the word t****y, something they claimed he had “never apologised” for.
In response, KSI wrote: “Didn’t even mean to misgender lol. Just said that the person had a better beard than me, that’s all. And I honestly didn’t even know that t****y was a bad word. What’s the correct term to use?”
After he was corrected and told to use the term “transgender”, KSI thanked the Twitter user.
He then apologised, tweeting: “My bad for saying transgender slurs. Honestly didn’t even know they were slurs. I know now though.”
The internet personality originally made the comments on the Sidemen channel, which he shares with a number of other YouTubers.
Alongside vlogging and music, KSI is well known for his boxing career and fights against fellow YouTuber Logan Paul.
