Youtuber Jeffree Star comes under fire from Irish fans for new eyeshadow palette

*Needs to be legalled*

Beauty Youtuber and Entrepreneur Jeffree Star has been subject to criticism on Twitter from Irish and international fans following the reveal of his newest eyeshadow palette ‘Cremated’.

Star took to YouTube last Friday to unveil his newest creation which he described on Instagram as “one of a kind” and a “24-pan gothic dream”.

In his 23 minute video release on YouTube Star explained that the palette and accompanying makeup collection was initially scheduled for release in April, but was held back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shortly after the palette’s reveal, Star began trending on Twitter.

One Twitter user wrote: “So your gonna' tell me Jeffree Star is releasing a palette called ‘cremated’ during a global pandemic where thousands are dying.”

Another user added: “To those who find a cremation palette launch during a pandemic acceptable, please feel free to let the millions of families who lost loved ones, were unable to have a proper burial, had no choice but to have a cremation for their loved one why you feel so strongly. Quickly.”

The eyeshadow shade names are receiving criticism as well as the palette name.

One Twitter user wrote, “everyone’s talking about how the name cremation is bad but I just read the shade names and they’re even worse”.

The palette of what Star describes as “gothic neutrals” features shades named ‘angel of death’, ‘mortuary beautician’ and ‘goodbye’ to name a few.

However, not everybody’s response to the palette was a critical one.

Many of Star’s YouTube friends congratulated him beneath the release video, notably Shane Dawson.

"So happy for you!!", Dawson said, expressing his excitement to own the palette himself.

A twitter user adde: “No way twitter is cancelling Jeffree Star for naming his palette cremated ... and saying it’s disrespectful bc of the coronavirus ... tell me y’all are joking.

On Saturday Star reacted to the different responses to the palette on his Instagram stories, explaining that he did not intend the products name to be viewed negatively.

“It's allowed to be interpreted any way that anyone wants to take it, but I always come from a good place."
