YouTube respond after The Inbetweeners channel deleted

YouTube has responded over social media speculation as to why The Inbetweeners channel has been removed.

Fans noticed the sitcom is no longer available to watch on the streaming service after every episode was removed.

Currently, viewers are met with the message: "This channel doesn’t have any content."

The news came after comedy series Little Britain was removed from BBC iPlayer after coming under fire over the use of blackface in some of its sketches.

Last week, comedian Leigh Francis issued a tearful apology for portraying black celebrities on sketch show Bo' Selecta.

And Netflix has also announced that The Mighty Boosh and League Of Gentleman have been pulled from the service over their use of blackface.

Viewers speculated The Inbetweeners may have become the latest to be axed, however this doesn't appear to be the case.

A spokesperson for Google told the ECHO YouTube had no involvement in removing the channel.

According to The Independent, the likely explanation is that the channel was deleted due to copyright reasons involving its addition to BritBox.

The show is still available to watch on All4.

The ECHO has contacted BritBox for comment.
