YouTube is developing its own interactive videos to rival Netflix’s Bandersnatch

In December, Netflix had viewers captivated when it launched Bandersnatch - its first choose-you-own adventure film.

Now, YouTube is going head-to-head with Netflix , as it’s announced that it is developing its own interactive videos.

The video platform has launched a new unit dedicated to developing interactive programming, which will be led by Ben Relles.

Speaking to Bloomberg , Susanne Daniels, head of original programming at YouTube, said: “We now have amazing new tools and opportunities to create and tell multilayered and interactive stories.

“Ben has an intuitive and experienced understanding of how the platform can enhance content, making him the perfect choice to develop this exciting new division.”

This isn’t the first time that YouTube has tested interactive content - it’s previously tested interactive adverts.

However, this is the first time that it’s working on full interactive videos.

It remains unclear when YouTube plans to launch it’s first choose-your-own adventure videos - watch this space!
