Youths filmed smashing windows at Swansea school during lockdown

Youths have been caught smashing windows at a Swansea school.

A group of youths were gathered outside Bishop Vaughan School in Morriston, defying coronavirus lockdown rules, on Saturday, May 9.

In addition to ignoring guidelines to stay at home, a number of the group were spotted throwing stones over boundary fences of the school, which is situated on Mynydd Garnllwyd Road.

But their act of vandalism, which took place shortly before 8pm, was caught on camera by witnesses.

One said: “There was a group of maybe seven to 10 kids running up my street laughing, saying they ‘wouldn’t get done for this’.

“But as much as these kids are causing trouble, it’s not a shock to see parents not caring about their kids at lockdown”.

A spokesperson for the school added: “We reported the incident to the police and we would ask people if they see anything suspicious that they contact the police.”

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A South Wales Police spokesman added: “We received reports of a Facebook video showing people throwing items at Bishop Vaughan School on May 9.

“Enquiries are ongoing. We would encourage anyone who witnesses a crime to contact us via 999 in an emergency or 101”.
