Detectives have charged a youth worker following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage girl on the Central Coast.
Earlier this week, detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man while in his care.
Following inquiries, a 26-year-old man attended Belmont Police Station about 11am on Wednesday, where he was charged with three counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16 years of age.
Police will allege in court the man sexually touched the girl on numerous occasions between April and August 2021 while she was under his care.
The man was refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Thursday.
Investigations are continuing.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate alleged matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
