Youth 'spits in glider staff's face' causing distress in West Belfast

A member of staff working on the Glider was left distressed after a youth spat in their face in West Belfast.

The incident took place at the Glengoland stop at around 5.25pm on Wednesday, January 5, when a group of youths boarded the Glider.

One of the members of the group is reported to have spat in the face of a member of the Glider staff, causing them "considerable distress".

Police are now appealing for information following the incident and are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information to contact them on non-emergency number 101.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "On Wednesday 5th January 2022 at approximately 5:25pm a group of youths boarded a Glider at the Glengoland stop before one of the youths spat in the face of a member of Glider staff.

"This assault caused the victim considerable distress when they were providing an essential service to the Colin community.

"Police are investigating and we would appeal for witnesses to come forward.
