Youth dies due to drug overdose

A 23-year-old unemployed engineering graduate from Hyderabad died due to drug overdose. This was disclosed by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) DS Chauhan on Thursday while announcing the arrest of a friend of the the deceased.

Rakesh (name changed), died while undergoing treatment at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences after nearly two weeks of his admission. He abused a cocktail of LSD, cocaine, MDMA and ganja which he procured from Goa during his recent visit with friends. His friend, Prem Upadhya (27), a realtor from DD Colony, Shivam Road along with three drug abusers was apprehended by Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing and seized six LSD blots, 10 ecstasy pills, 100 grams of hash oil and four mobile phones, all worth ₹1.2 lakh.   The drug abusers are Ramakrishna (27), a techie from Kondapur, Nikhil Joshua (27), a guitar teacher from Narsingi and Jeevan Reddy (26), an engineering student from Tarnaka.  During the press conference, police played a disturbing video of Rakesh while he was in the hospital when he had a nervous breakdown due to non availability of drugs.    Mr. Chauhan said that Prem Upadhya started consuming drugs since his college days and later he started to peddle the contraband from one Laxmipathi “He also used to visit Goa frequently for procuring LSD blots and Ecstasy Pills for ₹1,000 each pill, and the same was being sold to the needy customers back here for ₹3,000 each.  Acting on a tip off, the anti-narcotics team apprehended him while he was trying to sell hash oil, LSD Blots and Ecstasy pills, at the vegetable market, Nallakunta,
