Youth threatens Knowsley Town Council staff member with knife

A member of staff at Knowsley Town Council was reportedly threatened with a knife.

Details of the incident were posted by the Mayor of Knowsley Town Council, Councillor Dennis Baum on social media.

The shocking incident reportedly happened at the Bob Whiley Community Centre on Shop Road in Prescot on Wednesday, October 6.

The councillor wrote that a member of staff at the centre had been "threatened with a knife by a youth".

He said that as it was an " active police investigation " he could not give more information.

However, he added that this was the latest incident to happen near the community centre and other incidents have also been reported.

The Mayor said: "Knowsley Town Council will do, and will take all necessary steps required, to safeguard staff and the facility from criminal anti-social behaviour.

"KTC staff are employed by the council but in effect working for the residents of Knowsley Village to provide a first-rate facility.

"If any residents of Knowsley Village have any information regarding these ASB incidents, can I ask them to contact Merseyside Police."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information following an incident at the Bob Whitley Community Centre on Shop Lane on Wednesday 6 October.

"We received a report that, at around 8.50pm, a member of staff was threatened by a male youth who had gained access to the Community Centre.

"When a member of staff challenged the youth, he was threatened with a knife.

"No weapon was seen and nobody was injured."
