Youssed Chermiti arrives at Rangers training ground to complete transfer switch

Youssef Chermiti has arrived at the Rangers Training Centre to complete a transfer move from Everton.

Rangers are set to sign the forward from the Premier League side in a deal worth up to £10m.

The Rangers Review revealed last weekend that Chermiti was a player high on the recruitment list before tonight's deadline.

An initial fee in the region of £8m will be paid to Everton for the player, with the potential for the figure to rise to £10m.

Sky Sports have now revealed Chermiti is in the building at the Rangers Training Centre in Auchenhowie as he finalises his move to Ibrox.

Initial talks over an agreement had explored a loan deal for Chermiti, but discussions led to plans for a transfer by Saturday.

Dan Purdy and Kevin Thelwell were involved in the deal to sign the player for Everton from Sporting Lisbon in 2023.

The transfer deal for Chermiti is viewed as Rangers investing significantly in the 21-year-old, albeit at a cheaper rate than Everton, who signed him for £15m.

Quizzed on transfer business after the 0-0 draw with Celtic on Sunday, Russell Martin said: "I think we're close to a couple.

"I only spoke to Kevin this morning, and we haven't had a chance to catch up since. It's one we're very hopeful of concluding and getting done."

So far on transfer deadline day, Rangers have only confirmed a loan exit for Oscar Cortes. The winger has joined Sporting Gijon on a straight season-long loan agreement in order to gain regular first-team football.
