Youri Tielemans has brushed off questions over his Leicester City future after being asked if he sees himself as Gini Wijnaldum’s replacement at Liverpool.
The Reds have been continually linked with the Leicester midfielder in recent weeks after his side once again missed on Champions League football last season.
That speculation has further increased after Liverpool confirmed that Wijnaldum would leave the club following the conclusion of his contract at the end of this month.
Paris Saint-Germain last week announced the signing of the Dutchman on a free transfer after beating Barcelona to his signature.
Tielemans still has two years left on his City deal and the King Power club are hoping to tie him to a new contract.
And when asked about his future, Tielemans claimed his sole focus was on the current European Championships with Belgium.
“I don't think about it. I am focusing on the Euros. I don't listen to transfer rumours,” he told a press conference on Monday afternoon.
“No matter how much I am valued, it doesn't change anything for me. I just want to make the best Euros I can.”
Before he added when asked whether he could be a replacement for Wijnaldum : "That's really none of my business right now.
“Let the journalists speak. They undoubtedly have a lot to do with that. But I don't care about that. All I can do is make sure that I am as good as possible on the pitch.”
Belgium face Denmark in their second game of Euro 2020 later this week, and at the forefront of Tielemans' mind is Christian Eriksen.
The Inter Milan midfielder was in action for his country in their opening European Championships group stage match against Finland on Saturday.
The scores were tied at 0-0 at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen when the 29-year-old fell to the ground with no-one around him on the far side of the pitch when controlling a throw-in.
Denmark players and fans were in tears as medical staff rushed onto the pitch and performed CPR on Eriksen, with his distraught team-mates forming a shield around him as the procedures were taking place.
It has since been confirmed that Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest and Tielemans believe the events of Saturday will still linger over both of the sides on Thursday night.
"I contacted Kasper Schmeichel. It's hard for everyone. It's sad but everyone knows what happened and we're not going to go back over it," he said.
“I'm just going to say a big thumbs up to the medical teams for their work. It will be emotional. You can't forget what happened in a few days. You can never really forget it.
"I know the mentality of Kasper. He is a warrior who is definitely going to want to win after what happened."
