Youri Djorkaeff's son Oan earns St Mirren trial as Jim Goodwin runs the rule over Frenchman

St Mirren have offered Oan Djorkaeff – the son of France 98 World Cup winner Youri – the chance to win a contract with the Paisley club.

New Buddies manager Jim Goodwin last night confirmed the 22-year-old has joined the Premiership side for a trial spell during the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

The central-midfielder has previously turned out for St Etienne under-19s and Evian B, Montpellier B and Nantes B.

Djorkaeff is a free agent and comes from good family stock.

His father won the 1998 finals in his homeland and Euro 2000 with France as well as the European Cup-Winners’ Cup with PSG in 1995-96 and the UEFA Cup with Inter Milan in 1997-98.

Djorkaeff’s father also enjoyed stints in British football with Bolton and Blackburn and was part of the Kaiserslautern side who knocked Kilmarnock out of the European Cup-Winners Cup in 1999.

St Mirren will run the rule over Djorkaeff before deciding whether or not to offer the player a deal in the Scottish Premiership.
