Your windows deserve Amber Lewis's 'California cool' treatment too – this latest collaboration brings her iconic laid-back style to drapes and shades

A living room with red walls, a set of two chairs, a coffee table holding books, a vase, and candle holders, and double french doors to the outdoor area framed with floor length curtains.

Although I'm a born and raised East Coast girl, I can't deny my love for the laid-back aesthetic of West Coast interiors – a style that interior designer Amber Lewis has mastered. And now, Amber's taking her signature 'California cool' look to one of the most undervalued spots in the home – the windows.

In a collaboration with custom window coverings brand Everhem, Amber Lewis has released a selection of four window fabrics that are completely customizable to fit the window treatment ideas of any room.

'Window treatments are pieces I've traditionally done all custom in projects and for my own home,' Amber tells me. 'I wanted to create a range that complements and aligns to the timeless yet elevated aesthetic I hope to create.' And by partnering with Everhem, that's exactly what Amber was able to accomplish.

The four fabrics are light, airy, and capture the elegance of California casual style through print and texture. Plus, they demonstrate how impactful window coverings can be in the overall design of a room. For me, Paisley is a standout from the collection – it's a timelessly elegant yet statement-making linen adaptation of a well-loved wallpaper style from Amber's home brand, Shoppe.

All the designs, fabrics, and prints are perfect year-round, but there is a cozy fall feel to the collection, and they would be ideal for updating your curtain ideas going into the cooler months.

Amber and Everhem's founder, Haley Weidenbaum, have worked together on previous projects, so this collaboration just made sense. 'I was looking for a partner who could produce a high-quality, elevated aesthetic, with a truly customized experience. 'They were the perfect fit,' Amber says of Haley and the Everhem team.

'Amber brought her incredible design perspective, and I layered in Everhem’s expertise for a seamless, guided experience,' Haley tells me. 'The result is elevated, thoughtful, and exactly the kind of collaboration that makes designing custom window treatments enjoyable and inspiring.'

But what makes this collaboration so special? According to Haley, it's Amber's signature California cool aesthetic. 'The fabrics are exclusive to Shoppe and feature rich textures, thoughtful details, and colors that feel both fresh and enduring,' she explains. Every detail was carefully chosen and meant to add depth to a room. The result? A collection that proves window coverings are key design details that can enhance a space tenfold and need not be overlooked.

'Amber brought a clear vision not only for the fabrics, but also for the functionality and design of each product,' Haley continues. 'She added her signature touch to every category – like the overlay on the drapery panels or the relaxed option for the shades – making these pieces exclusive, elevated, and uniquely hers.'

Although the collection features two floral fabrics that are reimagined wallpaper prints from Shoppe, the other two fabrics are new styles – striped designs that, according to Amber, 'can be used in so many ways, across so many spaces to create a warm, lived-in, elevated vibe.'

And since all of these fabrics are completely customizable, there are countless ways to incorporate them in your home's design – as cafe curtains, box pleat drapes, roman shades, or pinch pleat drapes. 'Given the collection can be so customized for each space, it really opens up a lot of possibilities for use – from bedrooms and living rooms to cafe curtains in a kitchen... I can find a use for them almost everywhere, when you can change up the style, lining, and hardware,' Amber tells me.

New to the world of custom window treatments? Take some advice from Haley: 'I always start by literally stepping back from the window and looking at the bigger picture – how is the room being used, what’s the function, and what do you want the space to feel like?'

Of course, the function of window coverings is important, but so is their design – the part that's often overlooked. Consider thinking about window treatments as an element that 'ties the room all together,' Haley recommends.

Once you recognize the influence of window treatments in the design of a space, you can open up your mind to the world of custom treatments. Consider incorporating drapes, curtains, Roman shades, and even layering multiple window treatments to make your windows and the overall room come to life.
