I am so relieved there are other wonderfully strange people out there. For years I have hidden a secret that has no name, sharing with James Ward a love of stationery. Not to mention my love for artists' materials. But I will, anyway: paints, paper, brushes, charcoal sticks, the thrill of pastels. I couldn't produce a drawing fit for a fridge magnet.

Page five: Tim Dowling discusses the merits and demerits of keeping eggs in the fridge. Page 24: Tim Dowling offers a quiz that purports to inform readers about how boring they are. This is reminiscent of a pot offering condescending words to a kettle.

Each week we read Tim Dowling's account of his life and delight in Benoit Jacques's illustrations, which underline and add to the narrative. Words and image go together like eggs and bacon – a real treat.

Fascinating article on the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, but could you ask a few supplementary questions? Are girls allowed in their gang? And, given the dissonance between most climate-change-aware academics' pronouncements and their behaviour, how many times did they each fly last year?

The catastrophe has already happened: two non-fellows of Trinity College are standing on the grass!

Can't we be turned into something more interesting than paper clips? Yellow highlighters, maybe? Heart-shaped sharpeners? Either way, worst-case possibility 4 would be sure to make James Ward's day.

As a Scot, I enjoyed Jenny Turner's account of her A9 road trip. But I took exception to her remark about "they" banning the pound and bringing in passports. These are not on the agenda for a post-independence Scottish government. Unless, of course, "they" refers to a petulant Westminster.

Could Oliver Burkeman explain the difference between Ron Friedman's daily 10-minute "intellectual mise en place" and writing a to-do list?

Although Sam Wollaston claims, of the Volvo XC60, "This 181hp diesel engine is… surprisingly economical and unpolluting for a car of this size", it is still a diesel-powered vehicle. Given that diesel is one of the most people-damaging substances on the planet, why is he road-testing it at all?

Debbie Owen's experience (30 August) of giving birth on an aeroplane 21 years ago brought tears to my eyes. The crew were so understanding and capable, and what luck to have a doctor on board. I wonder whether it would be the same if this happened today?

I had set myself a challenge to get contributions into as many bits of the Guardian as possible. I've done letters in the main paper, items in most of the Saturday supplements and letters in Weekend. But now I'll never manage to get a photograph in Your Pictures. Shame.
