How can you change the body of somebody who has yet to discover and understand that body? I loved pretending to be Sarah from Labyrinth when I was three, but later I also loved pretending to be King Arthur, a cowboy, a spaceman and Robin Hood, and I had genuine belief that I’d grow up to be a knight. It’s called childhood. That’s what we do.

As a specialist in equality and inclusion, partly in the NHS, I support doctors who refuse puberty-blocking therapy to prepubescent children. Such treatment, from medics and parents, to people not legally able to make decisions for themselves, is tantamount to child abuse.

It is encouraging to read about parents who love and accept their children whatever they are dealing with, and care enough about their wellbeing to go to any lengths to help them find happiness. The thing that disturbed me, though, was that an eight-year-old’s favourite film was Child’s Play.

A finance director meets a financial auditor: “What were you hoping for?” “Someone I wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to meet.” Ha-ha!

I know it’s grim oop North, but would it kill you to do a date outside Soho?

I hate to break it to Simon Le Bon that his superpower as a “musical healer” is not universal. Every time I’ve heard his voice over the last 34 years, I have felt rather nauseous.
Ian Grieve
Steyning, West Sussex

After nearly six years of 12s, 13s and 14s, we finally scored 15 out of 15 on last week’s Quiz. As most Eatonites would probably agree, life can only go downhill from here.

Regarding David Smith’s letter, Prenton is not simply a place, but a state of mind.
Andrew Maton
Prenton (or Tranmere – we’re on the border), Merseyside
