Jon Stewart’s The Daily News has been essential viewing for as long as I’ve been able to gain access here in the UK. The man is a genius, and as long as you remember that he is first and foremost a comedian – a point he has made numerous times – you cannot help but appreciate his incisive satire.

An excellent profile, but I was disappointed you describe CNN as part of “the leftwing media”, which is to accept the Fox News premise. CNN has many faults, but being overly ideological is not one of them.

“‘That really is a beautiful tomato and mozzarella salad,’ [Stewart] intones solemnly to a bemused waiter.” What Jeremy Clarkson should have said.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s favourite marginal seat is “Great Grimsby, where Austin Mitchell could lose to Tory or Ukip,”. Guru-Murthy has a bit of homework to do before election night: Mitchell can’t lose the constituency – he’s standing down at this election.

I was appalled to read that Adam Boulton and Faisal Islam do not intend to vote on 7 May, in case this “would cloud their impartiality”. Choosing not to vote is hardly impartial; it is a political choice that signifies lack of interest in or contempt for the democratic process. What a terrible message to send to the electorate.

It’s hard to say which village would have been more offended by your use of a photograph of Langstone to illustrate an article on Emsworth). Fortunately, there are no Guardian readers in either location, so you may just have got away with it.

Stuart Heritage’s Is It Worth It? on squash was informative, but he might have suggested that would-be players would benefit from a few sessions with a local, friendly, licensed squash coach.

I see Zoe Williams isn’t on the Betfair odds to replace Clarkson as Top Gear presenter. Did she rule herself out?
