Your reaction to 'brilliant' Downs Festival 2019 including Lauryn Hill and IDLES

The biggest music festival in Bristol's calendar returned yesterday with its most exciting lineup yet.

The Downs Festival 2019 was headlined by the likes of , Grace Jones and this year while speakers including Shappi Khorsandi and Solomon OB performed in The Information Area.

Since its debut in 2016, the one-day festival has improved every year and thousands of attendees descend onto Bristol for the event.

Many praised headliner Lauryn Hill for her set, with Bristol Live's entertainment reporter Robin Murray saying the show was a and it seems like many others agreed.

One fan said on Twitter: "27 years old & listening to Lauryn Hill sing #ReadyOrNot at Clifton Downs has been the greatest moment of my whole entire life.

Josh Gardiner added: "Don’t know what Lauryn Hill has done since Glasto but she’s been very very good at The Downs tonight. Very impressed."

Grace Gleeson said on Facebook: "We showed Lauryn that Bristol love her by belting out Killing Me Softly and some Fugees ones.

"Could tell she felt the Bristol love and was so kind of her to come out afterwards and meet people."

Others were similarly impressed with Bristol band IDLES, who gave an "energetic, raw and sublime" performance at the festival.

Ryan Chappell said: "Absolutely incredible show @TheDownsBristol this afternoon! Great way to end the summer!"

"I’ve seen Idles 3-4 times now and never disappointed. 71 years old...total respect," John Kerridge added.

Many festival-goers praised this year's impressive lineup, which included several "amazing women".

Naomi Stone said on Twitter: "Still buzzing about the amazing women on stage yesterday at the Downs Festival, Bristol. A real treat."

Tim Kinberg added: "Brilliant #DownsFestival yesterday. Always loved @misscherrylala. Defo a new fan of @idlesband & their punk energy.

"@MsLaurynHill strangely absorbed for first part of set but seemed to find her old warmer self towards end."
