We’re now running a regular weekly photography assignment in the Observer New Review and the next theme is ‘emotion’.

So whether it’s a celebration or a moving memorial, share your photos of what emotion means to you – and tell us about your image in the description box.

The closing date is Thursday 16 April at 10 am. We’ll publish our favourites in The New Review on Sunday 19 April and in a gallery on the Guardian site.

You can share your ‘emotion’ pictures by clicking on the blue ‘Contribute’ button on this article. You can also use the GuardianWitness smartphone app or the Guardian app and search for ‘GuardianWitness assignments’ – and if you add it to the homepage – you can keep up with all our assignments.

  • GuardianWitness is the home of readers’ content on the Guardian. Contribute your video, pictures and stories, and browse news, reviews and creations submitted by others.
