We’re now running a regular weekly photography assignment in the Observer New Review and the next theme is ‘drop.’ So whether it’s an early spring snowdrop, a day out bungee jumping or an emotional tear filled moment, share your photos of what drop means to you – and tell us about your image in the description box.

The closing date is 5 March at 10 am. We’ll publish our favourites in The New Review on 8 March and in a gallery on the Guardian site.

You can share your ‘drop’ pictures by clicking on the blue ‘Contribute’ button on this article. You can also use the GuardianWitness smartphone app or theGuardian app and search for ‘GuardianWitness assignments’ – and if you add it to the homepage – you can keep up with all our assignments.

Here are some of the contributions so far:

Trapeze lessons From the New York Trapeze Company.

Paradies for Walkers and Climbers of all abilities in the Bavarian Alps / Germany.

I am more into the gentle drops down from the various Alms after a break in the walking. Enjoying a sweet or savoury local dish, some local beer/milk/fruitjuice and the views.

Others you see dropping down cliffs in their hang gliders or telling you about their tours on the higher mountain ranges above the treeline, on ridges with sheer drops to both sides.

After over 20 years my favourite coffee mug finally took the plunge! It was the last one of a set 4 and survived on its own for nearly 10 years (including multiple earthquakes)!

It will be sorely missed
