Your partner being disciplined at work could be a huge red flag for cheating

Small changes in your partner's behaviour can hint at being unfaithful.

A top psychologist has said noticing secretive signs from hiding a phone to 'projecting' could be bad news for your relationship.

The latest study, carried out by PNAS , has found that men who engage in workplace misconduct are 'significantly' more likely to cheat on their wives.

The research compared men in professions such as police officers and financial advisors, looking at those who had disciplinary issues at work.

The identities of these men were then matched up to profiles on Ashley Madison, an online dating service marketed at people who are married or in relationships, boasting the slogan 'life is short, have an affair'.

Despite promising user discretion, the site fell victim to hackers in 2015, releasing the data of 36 million user accounts into the public domain.

During the study, the men from each profession were compared against a control group in the same occupation who had no disciplinary record.

While looking at police officers, PNAS found those who had engaged in misconduct within the force were more than twice as likely to hold a paid for account with Ashley Madison, compared those who did not.

The findings, which the study says were 'highly statistically significant', have similar patterns in the other professional groups looked at.

It concludes by stating most people make serious mistakes at some point in their lives but the study gives 'compelling evidence' that people's conduct at work is strongly linked to their behaviour in their personal lives.

It adds: "This supports the classical view that virtues such as honesty and integrity influence a person’s thoughts and actions across diverse contexts."
