Your next binge: 3 best shows in Netflix's top 10 you need to stream right now

Abigail Dalton (Suranne Jones) waves behind a podium in a scene from Netflix's "Hostage".

Just like all the best streaming services, Netflix always seems to be bringing us new stuff to watch. That steady stream of new shows and movies is both a blessing and a curse, though: More choice is a big boon, but it also means deciding what to watch is getting even tougher.

You can always turn to the Netflix top 10 shows list for a quick round-up of suggestions, but as I've said before: Just because something's trending on Netflix doesn't mean it's guaranteed to be a top watch — and that's exactly why I regularly check what's climbed into the streamer's charts.

Each week, I comb through Netflix's top 10 list and highlight the three best shows to add to your watchlist. That way, you've always got a couple of recommendations to turn to the next time you can't decide what to watch. You can find my three picks (and a complete breakdown of the Netflix top 10 list right now) below.

This article is based on the Netflix U.S. top 10 as of Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Best shows in the Netflix top 10 right now

'Hostage'

Looking for a fast-paced, twisting political thriller you can race through in just a few hours? "Hostage" is the show for you. It's a show that feels practically purpose-built for binge-watching, and it's clearly doing its job: despite being a short watch, the show's still in the top 10 well after its August 21 release.

The show sees noted British actor Suranne Jones stepping onto the screen as British Prime Minister, Abigail Dalton. We follow Dalton as she and the French President Vivienne Toussaint (Julie Delpy) are sucked into a high-stakes political crisis.

Dalton's husband is kidnapped while on a foreign aid mission, and as they scramble to find him, Toussaint receives mounting blackmail threats to stay out of it. As they work to get to the bottom of things, their political futures and very lives hang in the balance: can they work together to get to the bottom of this twisting conspiracy?

'Two Graves'

"Two Crimes" is a newly-released, gritty Spanish crime thriller from Agustín Martínez that my colleague Alix Blackburn highlighted recently, writing: "“Two Graves” is a solid pick for anyone looking for a revenge-fueled crime mystery, packaged into three hour-long episodes."

The limited series whisks us off to Frigiliana and introduces us to Isabel (Kiti Mánver), a grandmother who is searching for truth. Two years after the disappearance of two teenage girls, the case is closed due to a lack of evidence, prompting Isabel to carry out her own off-the-books investigation.... a search which spirals out into a savage revenge story.

'Wednesday' season 2

Despite only dropping half a season's worth of episodes at the start of August, "Wednesday" season 2 is still sitting pretty near the top of Netflix's top 10 list. Granted, "Wednesday" is still Netflix's most-watched show of all time, so that's probably no real surprise.

"Wednesday" season 2 sees Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams head back to Nevermore Academy for a darker, more gruesome second season. Arriving with the rest of the Addams family in tow, she's soon embroiled in a brand new supernatural mystery while navigating friendships and new (and old) rivalries, and it's just as fun a watch as ever.

If you've somehow managed to dodge the first four episodes of "Wednesday" season 2, now is the perfect time to catch up: "Wednesday" season 2 part 2 is dropping tomorrow (September 3).
