Your Honda Cross Cub Needs This Sick Set of LED Fog Lights

Listen, I'm decidedly not a "safety third" kind of person. I love riding, but I'm the nerd who'll put on a helmet to go to the gas station, and I make no apologies for it. I've known people who've been injured and even died just doing the kinds of slow-speed, seemingly low-risk things you wouldn't usually think twice about. As a result, I'm the kind of person who's extra careful.

And I've also done more than my fair share of commuting on bikes at night, particularly back when I used to go to class late into the evening after my full day of work was done. So I know from first-hand experience that making sure you're seen on the road is of the utmost importance.

Am I telling you that I'll wear a hi-viz crossing guard vest on a bike when it's extremely foggy or rainy out? Yes, absolutely. I would rather look silly and get home safe than ride in murdered-out gear and then actually get murdered because someone didn't see me. Sorry, but I'm not sorry about that.

So, for all those reasons, as well as the reasons that most people probably don't think about putting additional illumination on their Honda Cubs, I am all about the fact that SP Takegawa apparently offers LED fog lights for both the Cross Cub 50 and 110.

Seriously, take a look at these things. They're sweet.

Maybe it's because there's an inherent tension in the idea of something as cute as the Cross Cub ever looking mean. If you'd like to psychoanalyze this reaction, you can go right ahead. But look at how great these look, in addition to thinking about how much brighter you'll be on the road if you're riding the Cross Cub these are installed on!

Sure, maybe you're not going on deep forest expeditions with your Cross Cub. Or maybe you are! But either way, installing a kit like this seems like a fantastic way to both see where you're going, and ensure that anything or anyone else you happen to encounter in your urban/rural adventures will take notice that you're there. And then hopefully, they won't hit you.

Is that a super simple way to think about it? Sure. But is it wrong? Probably not. Visibility matters, probably even moreso when you're on something small and unobtrusive, like a Cross Cub. It's a case where style and function might also equal safety, and you can count me in as being all for that concept.

Would I absolutely stick some sweet fog lights on any scooter I decided to run in the Scooter Cannonball? I think you already know the answer.
