Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 is on the way, and, while there's no official release date just yet, what we do know is that the show will be back sometime in early 2027. That means there probably isn't much of a wait at all for more. Which is great news considering Spidey fever is at an all-time high after the brilliant release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
However, aside from live-action outings, there are plenty of details to unpack in the animated show. Season 2 ended with Doctor Strange and Spider-Man teaming up to save New York City. There's not yet a synopsis for season 2, but we can expect more web-slinging action, and a teaser shown at NYCC gives us our best hint yet at what's to come.
Below, you'll find everything there is to know about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, from the release window to our best guess at the plot, and much more besides. That means you can get caught up on one of the most exciting of the upcoming Marvel movies and shows. But, be warned that the following contains season 1 spoilers.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 release date speculation
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 will arrive in January 2027, as confirmed at D23 in August 2026.
Originally, season 2 was ment to come out in Fall 2026, however it has since been delayed. My guess as to the push back is to stagger releases a bit since the MCU calander already has VisionQuest and Avengers Doomsday to end off the year. But I'll keep you posted if any new reveales head our way.
Hopefully we get a firm January release date soon as well. Considering how the year is almost over, that news should be with us shortly so stay tuned.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 plot speculation
Although a plot synopsis is yet to be released for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, the first season's finale gives us some clues.
Firstly, it seems Peter's father Richard Parker will feature, given that he made a cameo right at the end of the first season when Aunt May pays him a visit in prison. But why is he behind bars? What conspiracy is there to unravel? Why was he not mentioned at all during the first season until this scene? Where does Peter think he is? Our guess is that Peter will become embroiled in all of this, making the stakes more personal next season.
As for the villain of season 2, although it seems that Doc Ock is plotting his escape (we briefly see him pinning a picture of his tentacle suit design on the wall of his prison cell), our bet is that Norman Osborn will be the one to watch. Despite being Peter's mentor in the first season, he showed his potential for villainy through Project Monolith, which he wanted to use to ensure that mankind is "revered like gods"...
Showrunner Jeff Trammell has confirmed that Gwen Stacey will be joining the cast of characters for season 2, giving us a first look at her superhero alter-ego, Spider-Gwen, too. Does that mean romance is on the cards for Peter?
Is there a Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 trailer?
There's currently no trailer for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 available to watch online, but a teaser did air behind closed doors at New York Comic Con 2025. In the clip, which will hopefully be released to the public soon, there's a glimpse of Charlie Cox's Daredevil in animated form and some sentient black goo, which suggests we can expect to see Venom in season 2.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 cast speculation
Although the first season was action-packed, no one bit the dust, meaning that we should expect the majority of cast members to return for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2. Furthermore, there was an exciting cameo from Richard Parker (voiced by Marvel Animation legend Josh Keaton) at the very end of the season finale, so we should expect newcomers to join the stacked cast list too.
Gwen Stacey will be joining the cast, but the voice actor who will be bringing her to life is yet to be announced. In fact, there haven't been any official announcements yet, but here's what we expect the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man cast list to look like:
- Peter Parker/Spider-Man – Hudson Thames
- Norman Osborn – Colman Domingo
- Doctor Octopus – Hugh Dancy
- Nico Minoru – Grace Song
- Lonnie Lincoln – Eugene Byrd
- Harry Osborn – Zeno Robinson
- Pearl Pangan – Cathy Ang
- Aunt May – Kari Wahlgren
- Jeanne Foucault – Anjali Kunapaneni
- Richard Parker – Josh Keaton
- Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen – TBA
- Matt Murdock/Daredevil – Charlie Cox
